TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA UPS FAQ

Answers about TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA modular three-phase UPS architecture, VRLA / lithium battery support, PF 1.0 output, 40 / 50 / 60 kVA hot-swappable power modules, N+X parallel operation and Load Bus Synchronization.

What is the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA UPS?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA is a transformerless modular three-phase online double-conversion UPS platform with VRLA and lithium battery support. It uses 40 / 50 / 60 kVA hot-swappable power modules, 3-level IGBT topology and hot-swappable power, bypass, monitoring and ECU control modules. Output PF is 1.0 (kW = kVA), AC-mode efficiency reaches up to 96%, and the battery system uses external VRLA lead-acid or lithium (LiFePO4) batteries with a 360–600 Vdc bus and charging current up to 20 A by configuration. Common cabinet configurations include 80, 120, 200, 300, 320, 400, 500 and 600 kVA; final capacity and redundancy are configured by module quantity and project design.
What is the difference between TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA and TM66E Modular 10–150 kVA?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA uses larger 40 / 50 / 60 kVA hot-swappable power modules, supports VRLA or lithium (LiFePO4) battery systems, uses a 360–600 Vdc battery bus, and reaches up to 96% AC-mode efficiency. TM66E Modular 10–150 kVA uses smaller 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 kVA hot-swappable power modules, external VRLA-only battery systems, programmable ±180 to ±300 Vdc battery bus, and up to 95.8% AC-mode efficiency. Choose 10–150 kVA for smaller rack-cabinet projects with VRLA external batteries; choose 40–600 kVA for medium-to-large modular UPS projects requiring lithium support, larger power modules, higher capacity and higher efficiency.
Can the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA be paralleled for redundancy?
Yes. TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA supports direct parallel operation for capacity expansion or N+X redundancy up to 6 units, subject to project design. Shared-battery parallel configuration is supported by configuration. A Load Bus Synchronization (LBS) port is available for dual-bus or coordinated multi-system designs. The parallel kit, including cables and configuration, is specified at order.
What battery options does the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA support?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA supports external VRLA lead-acid maintenance-free or lithium (LiFePO4) battery systems by project configuration, with a 360–600 Vdc battery bus and charging current up to 20 A by model and configuration. Lithium battery cabinets require compatible cabinet design, BMS communication and project-specific charging and runtime settings. ATENCO engineers size the battery configuration according to UPS capacity, load level, target backup time, battery chemistry and site requirements.
Can the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA run on a generator?
Yes. TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA supports a wide 138–485 Vac input window with Power Walk-In to reduce start-current impact on generator capacity when the generator is properly sized and configured. The UPS operates at 100% load from 305–485 Vac and derates to 40% load below 305 Vac. Input PF ≥0.99 and input THDi ≤3% help reduce upstream electrical stress.
What monitoring options does the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA support?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA provides a 7-inch TFT touchscreen HMI standard, with 10-inch optional by configuration, plus mimic diagram, history logs and fault logs. Communications include RS-232, RS-485, parallel, LBS, BMS and dry-contact ports. Optional intelligent-slot cards include the TM550 SNMP card for network monitoring, web access, event alerts and NMS / BMS integration, plus relay-card options for dry-contact integration. Modbus RTU via RS-485 supports BMS / SCADA integration by configuration. Battery temperature sensor is optional. FW / SW online upgrade is supported in bypass mode.
What is LBS synchronization on the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA?
LBS, or Load Bus Synchronization, is available on TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA for dual-bus or synchronized multi-system designs. It coordinates output synchronization between independent UPS systems in applications such as dual power paths or STS-supported architectures. Availability and configuration depend on project design.
Does TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA support lithium batteries?
Yes. TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA supports external VRLA lead-acid or lithium (LiFePO4) battery systems with a 360–600 Vdc battery bus by project configuration. Lithium systems require compatible cabinet design, BMS communication and project-specific charging and runtime settings confirmed during sizing. For larger capacities, use TM66E Large Modular 400–1200 kVA.
Is TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA hot-swappable?
Yes. TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA is a modular platform with hot-swappable power modules, bypass module, monitoring module and ECU control module. Power modules can be added, removed or replaced within cabinet capacity, supporting capacity expansion and reduced-downtime maintenance by approved procedure. Battery systems are external VRLA or lithium cabinets by project configuration, not built-in hot-swappable battery modules.
Which applications is the TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA not recommended for?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA, like the TM66E series, is not compatible with regenerative / energy-feedback loads, including CT machines, semiconductor cutting machines, elevators and motor-driven equipment with front-end feedback inverters, unless reviewed and approved by ATENCO engineering. It is also not the right choice when the protected load requires single-phase output; use TM11E, RM11E, TM31E or RM31E instead according to input / output architecture and capacity. For smaller modular UPS projects, use TM66E Compact 30–75 kVA or TM66E Modular 10–150 kVA. For capacities above 600 kVA, use TM66E Large Modular 400–1200 kVA. For transformer-based galvanic isolation, use TM33-ET.
What is the advantage of TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA over smaller modular UPS systems?
TM66E Modular 40–600 kVA provides higher scalable capacity, larger 40 / 50 / 60 kVA hot-swappable power modules, VRLA or lithium battery support, 360–600 Vdc battery bus, up to 96% AC efficiency and N+X parallel operation up to 6 units.
