RM33E 3:3 Rack UPS FAQ

Answers about RM33E three-phase input / three-phase output rack architecture, 10–50 kVA capacity, PF 1.0 output, parallel operation, external battery strings and monitoring.

What does RM33E mean?
RM33E is a 3:3 online three-phase rack UPS, meaning it accepts three-phase input and delivers protected three-phase output in a 19-inch rack-mount chassis. The 10–50 kVA range is designed for data centers, network rooms, industrial control and critical infrastructure projects with three-phase critical loads from 10 to 50 kW at PF 1.0.
What is the difference between RM33E and TM33E?
RM33E and TM33E are both 3:3 online double-conversion three-phase UPS systems with PF 1.0 output. RM33E is rack-mount, with 3U chassis for 10–30 kVA and 4U chassis for 40–50 kVA. TM33E is a floor-standing tower UPS. Choose RM33E when the installation is a 19-inch rack environment; choose TM33E for floor-mount tower installations.
What capacities and rack sizes are available for RM33E?
RM33E is available in 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50 kVA models. The 10–30 kVA models use a 3U rack chassis; the 40–50 kVA models use a 4U rack chassis. In PF 1.0 configuration, the UPS provides matching kW output capacity: 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50 kW. All RM33E models are battery-less head units paired with external VRLA battery strings.
Can RM33E run on a generator?
Yes. RM33E supports a wide 138–480 Vac input window and 40–70 Hz auto-sensing input frequency, supporting generator-backed sites and unstable utility conditions when the generator is properly sized and configured. Input PF ≥0.99 and input THDi ≤3% help reduce upstream electrical stress. DC cold-start is supported for startup from battery without utility.
Can RM33E be paralleled for redundancy?
Yes. RM33E supports direct parallel operation for capacity expansion or N+X redundancy: up to 4 units for 10–30 kVA models and up to 6 units for 40–50 kVA models, subject to project design. The 40–50 kVA models add an LBS port for Load Bus Synchronization in coordinated multi-unit or dual-bus system designs. Parallel cabling and commissioning must follow the installation procedure.
What battery options are available for RM33E?
RM33E is a battery-less head unit for external VRLA battery strings. Battery quantity is configurable from 30 to 50 pcs of 12 V blocks, with DC bus voltage from ±180 to ±300 Vdc. For full PF 1.0 output, 36–50 pcs are used; 32–34 pcs carry PF 0.9 derating, and 30 pcs carries PF 0.8 derating. Runtime is selected according to UPS capacity, load level and target backup time. ATENCO engineers size the battery system by project.
What monitoring options does RM33E support?
RM33E supports USB, RS-232, RS-485, dry contact, EPO / REPO and intelligent-slot communication by configuration. The optional TM550 SNMP card enables network monitoring, web access, event alerts and NMS / BMS integration. On 40–50 kVA models, the intelligent slot also accepts a relay card. A battery temperature sensor (NTC) is available for dynamic charging, and LED + LCD display provides on-unit monitoring.
What is LBS synchronization on RM33E?
LBS, or Load Bus Synchronization, is available on RM33E 40–50 kVA models for dual-bus or synchronized multi-unit system designs. It helps coordinate output synchronization between UPS systems in applications such as dual power paths or STS-supported architectures. Availability and configuration depend on project design.
Which applications is RM33E not recommended for?
RM33E is not the right choice when the protected load requires single-phase output; use TM31E 3:1 tower UPS or RM31E 3:1 rack UPS instead. It is also not the right choice when the site has only single-phase input; use TM11E or RM11E single-phase online UPS instead. For floor-standing tower installations of the same power class, use TM33E. Medical-grade or isolation-specific projects should be reviewed against the project’s electrical, certification and isolation requirements.
