PowTerra Outdoor UPS FAQ
Common questions about project configuration, IP rating, thermal management, monitoring and applications.
What is an outdoor UPS cabinet?
An outdoor UPS cabinet combines online UPS power protection, battery backup, enclosure protection, thermal management and monitoring options for equipment installed in outdoor or semi-outdoor locations. PowTerra is configured according to the site voltage, load, required runtime, ambient temperature, IP protection level, installation location and communication requirements.
Is PowTerra a fixed model or customized outdoor UPS system?
PowTerra is a project-configured outdoor UPS platform rather than one fixed cabinet model. UPS capacity, cabinet size, IP protection, battery system, runtime, cooling or heating method, communication options and input/output phase are selected according to the approved project design.
Is PowTerra IP55 or IP56?
PowTerra cabinet protection is selected according to the approved project configuration. IP55 or IP56 enclosure options may be available depending on cabinet design, thermal-management method, cable entry and site conditions. The final IP rating must be confirmed in the project proposal.
Can PowTerra support telecom and CCTV equipment?
Yes. PowTerra is designed for telecom shelters, small cell sites, edge network cabinets, IP CCTV systems, NVRs, traffic controllers, perimeter security and other remote infrastructure requiring stable online power, battery backup and environmental protection.
Does PowTerra include air conditioning?
PowTerra can be configured with air conditioning, fan cooling, a heat exchanger, heating or a combination of thermal-management methods, depending on ambient temperature, internal heat load, battery type and cabinet design. The thermal-management package is selected as part of the approved project configuration.
What backup time can PowTerra provide?
Backup time depends on the connected load, battery capacity, battery type, ambient temperature, allowable cabinet space and required autonomy. ATENCO can prepare a project-specific runtime calculation based on the load list and target backup time.
Can PowTerra be monitored remotely?
Yes. Depending on the installed UPS and communication configuration, PowTerra may support SNMP, Modbus, RS-232, USB and dry-contact alarm interfaces for integration with network-management, building-management and control-room systems.
Can surge-protection devices be integrated?
Yes. Surge-protection devices and coordinated power-distribution protection may be integrated according to site exposure, grounding design and the approved project scope. Protection against direct lightning effects requires a complete site lightning-protection and earthing design and should not be assumed from the UPS cabinet alone.
Which industries use PowTerra outdoor UPS cabinets?
PowTerra is used for telecom and edge networks, CCTV and security systems, traffic and ITS infrastructure, remote SCADA and industrial-control sites, weather-monitoring systems, repeater stations and rural or isolated infrastructure where power quality, temperature, dust, moisture and remote access must be considered together.
