Engineered for 3:1 Rack/Tower Critical Power

Three-phase input / single-phase output online rack/tower UPS architecture for sites with 3-phase utility supply and protected single-phase IT, telecom or control loads in 19″ cabinets.

3-Phase In / 1-Phase Out

Accepts 380 / 400 / 415 Vac three-phase input and delivers 220 / 230 / 240 Vac protected single-phase output for server racks, telecom, security and IT loads supplied from a 3-phase building feed. Single-phase input / single-phase output operation is also supported by configuration.

3U Rack/Tower Form Factor

Compact 3U rack/tower convertible design for standard 19″ cabinets or tower installation. Suitable for server rooms, telecom racks, control rooms and high-density IT environments. Optional rack rail kit supports 700–760 mm cabinet depths.

Online Double-Conversion VFI

True online UPS topology with IGBT rectifier, IGBT inverter and DSP control provides pure sine wave output and 0 ms online transfer from AC to battery for sensitive single-phase critical loads.

PF 1.0 Output / Low Input THDi

Output PF 1.0 (kW = kVA) provides full usable kW capacity. Active input control delivers input PF ≥0.99 and input THDi ≤3%, helping reduce upstream electrical stress and improve compatibility with cables, breakers and generators.

RM31E 3:1 Rack UPS FAQ

Answers about RM31E three-phase input / single-phase output rack/tower architecture, 6–10 kVA capacity, PF 1.0 output, external battery runtime, parallel operation and monitoring options.

What does RM31E mean?
RM31E is a 3:1 rack/tower online UPS, meaning it accepts three-phase input and delivers protected single-phase output. It is designed for 19″ rack or tower installations where the building supply is three-phase but the protected IT, telecom, security or control loads are single-phase.
What is the difference between RM31E and TM31E?
RM31E and TM31E share the same 3:1 application logic: three-phase input and single-phase output. RM31E is a compact 3U rack/tower UPS for 6–10 kVA projects. TM31E is a tower UPS for larger 10–20 kVA projects. Choose RM31E for rack-based installations or 6–10 kVA loads; choose TM31E for floor-mounted installations or higher 10–20 kVA capacity.
What is the difference between RM31E and RM33E?
RM31E is a three-phase input / single-phase output UPS, also called 3:1 UPS. RM33E is a three-phase input / three-phase output rack UPS, also called 3:3 UPS. Choose RM31E when the site supply is three-phase but the protected load requires 220 / 230 / 240 Vac single-phase output. Choose RM33E when the protected load itself requires three-phase output.
What capacities are available for RM31E?
RM31E is available in 6 kVA and 10 kVA models. In PF 1.0 configuration, the UPS provides matching kW output capacity: 6 kW and 10 kW. RM31E is configured with external RC-series rack battery cabinets for backup runtime.
Can RM31E be paralleled for redundancy?
Yes. Up to 4 RM31E units can be configured in parallel for capacity expansion or N+X redundancy, subject to model configuration and project design. Parallel cabling and commissioning must follow the installation procedure.
What monitoring options does RM31E support?
RM31E supports local and remote monitoring options including RS-232, RS-485 / Modbus RTU, dry contact, EPO and intelligent-slot communication by configuration. The optional TM550 SNMP card enables network monitoring, web access, event alerts and NMS / BMS integration. Relay card options are also available for dry-contact signalling.
What battery runtime options are available for RM31E?
RM31E supports external RC-series VRLA rack battery cabinets for backup runtime. Battery quantity, DC bus voltage and cabinet configuration are selected according to UPS model, load level and target runtime.
Which applications is RM31E not recommended for?
RM31E is not the right choice when the protected load requires three-phase output. For full 3-phase input / 3-phase output rack applications, use RM33E, TM33E or TM33-ET depending on capacity, form factor and project requirements. For sites with only single-phase input, use RM11E or TM11E single-phase online UPS instead. Medical-grade or isolation-specific projects should be reviewed against the project’s electrical, certification and isolation requirements.
