3:1 / 1:1 Operation 3U Rack/Tower PF 1.0 Output 0 ms Transfer Time Parallel up to 4 Units

Engineered for 3:1 Rack/Tower Critical Power

Three-phase input and single-phase output online UPS architecture for sites with three-phase distribution and protected single-phase IT, telecom, security or control loads installed in standard 19-inch racks or tower environments.

3-Phase In / 1-Phase Out

Accepts 380 / 400 / 415 Vac three-phase input and delivers 220 / 230 / 240 Vac single-phase output for critical equipment supplied from a three-phase electrical network. Optional single-phase input and single-phase output operation is also supported by configuration.

3U Rack/Tower Form Factor

Compact 3U rack/tower convertible design for standard 19-inch equipment racks or freestanding tower installation. Suitable for server rooms, telecom racks, control rooms and space-constrained IT environments.

Online Double-Conversion VFI

True online double-conversion architecture with DSP digital control provides regulated pure sine-wave output and 0 ms transfer time between online and battery operation for sensitive single-phase critical loads.

PF 1.0 Output & Low Input Distortion

Output PF 1.0 (kW = kVA) provides full usable kW capacity. Active input power-factor correction delivers input PF ≥0.99 and input THDi ≤3% at linear load, helping reduce upstream current demand and harmonic loading.

Parallel up to 4 Units

Selected RM31E configurations support parallel operation of up to four units for capacity expansion or N+X redundancy, subject to approved parallel accessories, matching UPS ratings and project design.

Flexible Runtime & Monitoring

Compatible external rack battery cabinets extend backup time according to the connected load and required runtime. Communication options include RS-232, RS-485, EPO and optional SNMP or relay-card interfaces by configuration for remote monitoring, dry-contact signalling and integration with network-management, building-management or control-room systems.

RM31E 3:1 Rack / Tower UPS FAQ

Answers about RM31E three-phase input and single-phase output architecture, 6 and 10 kVA ratings, PF 1.0 output, external battery runtime, parallel operation and communication options.

What does RM31E mean?
RM31E is a 3:1 online rack/tower UPS, meaning it accepts three-phase AC input and delivers protected single-phase output. It is designed for standard 19-inch rack or tower installations where the site has three-phase electrical distribution but the protected IT, telecom, security or control loads require single-phase power.
What is the difference between RM31E and TM31E?
RM31E and TM31E share the same 3:1 architecture: three-phase input and single-phase output. RM31E is a compact 3U rack/tower platform available in 6 and 10 kVA ratings, while TM31E is a floor-standing tower platform available in 10, 15 and 20 kVA ratings. Choose RM31E for rack-based or space-constrained installations; choose TM31E where higher capacity or a floor-standing tower design is required.
What is the difference between RM31E and RM33E?
RM31E is a three-phase input and single-phase output UPS, commonly described as 3:1. RM33E is a three-phase input and three-phase output UPS, commonly described as 3:3. Choose RM31E when the site supply is three-phase but the protected load requires 220 / 230 / 240 Vac single-phase output. Choose RM33E when the protected load itself requires three-phase output.
What capacities are available for RM31E?
RM31E is available in 6 kVA / 6 kW and 10 kVA / 10 kW ratings when configured for PF 1.0 output. Compatible external rack battery systems are selected according to the required runtime. Battery quantity and rated output capability depend on the approved battery configuration.
Can RM31E be paralleled for redundancy?
Selected RM31E configurations support parallel operation of up to four matching units for capacity expansion or N+X redundancy. Parallel operation requires approved accessories, compatible firmware, matching UPS ratings and commissioning according to the installation procedure.
What monitoring options does RM31E support?
Depending on configuration, RM31E supports RS-232, RS-485, EPO and auxiliary communication or control interfaces. Optional compatible SNMP and relay cards provide remote monitoring, event reporting and dry-contact signalling. Integration with network-management, building-management or control-room systems depends on the selected card and supported protocol.
What battery runtime options are available for RM31E?
RM31E supports compatible external VRLA rack battery systems for extended backup time. Available configurations include 20-battery and 40-battery rack cabinets using 7 Ah or 9 Ah batteries. Battery quantity, DC bus voltage, charger setting and expected runtime are selected according to the UPS rating, connected load, ambient temperature and required backup time.
Can RM31E operate with single-phase input?
Yes. In addition to standard 3:1 operation, RM31E can support single-phase input and single-phase output operation by approved configuration. The selected input mode and site wiring must be confirmed before ordering.
Can RM31E operate from a generator?
RM31E can support generator-fed applications due to its wide input-voltage and frequency ranges. Generator capacity, voltage regulation, frequency stability, load-step performance and UPS charging current must be checked during project sizing.
Does RM31E support a maintenance bypass?
An optional external maintenance-bypass PDU is available by configuration. It provides a bypass and isolation arrangement for UPS service or replacement, subject to correct installation, available bypass power and the prescribed switching procedure.
Which applications are not suitable for RM31E?
RM31E is not the correct platform when the protected load requires three-phase output. For three-phase input and three-phase output applications, select an appropriate RM33E, TM33E or TM33-ET platform according to capacity, form factor and project requirements. For sites with only single-phase input, consider RM11E or TM11E. Medical, isolation-transformer, high-inrush and specialist industrial applications require separate review against load characteristics, grounding, leakage current, certification and environmental requirements.
